Southwestern's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting an Entrebash event for area entrepreneurs on Wednesday, June 21, from 4-7 p.m. in the SWCC Instructional Center, room 180.

Two Southwestern Community College (SWCC) students traveled to Orlando, FL, from May 10-14, 2017, to compete and place in the top 10 during the 2017 Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference.

Jenna Shepherd, arts and sciences college transfer/business administration major from Shannon City, and Shawna Abell, administrative office technology major from Greenfield, represented SWCC at the national conference. During the conference, Shepherd and Abell participated in a number of business-related contests. Shepherd placed eighth in the “Interview Skills” category. Abell placed 10th in “Fundamental Word Processing.” They qualified for the national competition by placing in the top three at state competition in Des Moines in February. 

PTK Food Drive Items

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Phi Theta Kappa food drive!  The items are boxed and ready to be delivered to food pantries in Afton, Creston, Murray, and Osceola.

The Spartan Cafe is open during summer 2017, through June 30, from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The daily menu is featured on the bottom right corner of the SWCC homepage under "Spartan Cafe Specials" heading.

SWCC Ag Students Presenting

The first annual Ag Day was held at the SWCC Red Oak Center on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. More than 40 students from Red Oak and Shenandoah High Schools participated in the day.

SWCC HHR on track at 2016 Speedway Night

SWCC Night at the Adams County Speedway in Corning is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017.  Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 6:30 p.m., and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seventh-12th graders, and sixth grade and under are free.  Representatives from SWCC will be on-hand with games, prizes, college information, and giveaways. SWCC has two options for students interested in a career in automotive--auto collision repair/refinish and automotive repair technology.

Creston— The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of directors met on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the SWCC Administration Center for their regular monthly board meeting.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) came home with four gold medal finishes following the Iowa SkillsUSA competition on Friday, April 28, at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny.  These first place finishes qualify the students for national SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, KY, from June 18-23.
